Tadej Pogacar Wins Tirreno Adriatico Eyes Giro Tour Double In 2024

Tadej Pogačar Wins Tirreno-Adriatico, Eyes Giro-Tour Double in 2024

Pogačar Dominates in Italy, Sets Sights on Historic Season

Tadej Pogačar (UAE-Team Emirates) has claimed victory at the 56th edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico, triumphing over Wout van Aert (Team Jumbo-Visma) and Mikel Landa in a thrilling finish. The Slovenian star is now poised to make history by attempting to win both the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France in the same season.

Pogačar's Ambitious Goal

Pogačar's audacious aspiration was hinted at after his Tirreno-Adriatico triumph. The two-time Tour de France champion revealed that the Giro d'Italia is firmly on his radar, despite its grueling nature. Reports suggest that the 2023 Corsa Rosa could commence in Pescara on the Adriatic coast, potentially featuring a stage in Slovenia and the notorious climb up Monte Zoncolan.

If successful, Pogačar would become only the ninth rider in history to achieve the Giro-Tour double. The last rider to accomplish this impressive feat was Chris Froome in 2018.
