Kolkata Knight Riders emerged victorious in a nail-biting IPL 2014 final, defeating Punjab Kings by three wickets. The match, held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, witnessed a thrilling contest between the two teams.
KKR, chasing a target of 200, got off to a solid start thanks to Manish Pandey's scintillating knock of 94 runs. However, Kings XI Punjab's bowlers fought back, with Karanveer Singh taking four wickets for 54 runs. Despite the setbacks, KKR managed to reach the target with just three wickets remaining.
Earlier in the match, Kings XI Punjab set a challenging total of 199 for four wickets. Wriddhiman Saha top-scored for Punjab with an impressive 115 runs, while Glenn Maxwell contributed with a quick-fire 43 off just 22 balls.
The victory marks KKR's second IPL title, further solidifying their status as one of the most successful teams in the tournament. The win was particularly special for skipper Gautam Gambhir, who was named Player of the Match for his crucial 32 runs. Meanwhile, Kings XI Punjab will be disappointed to have fallen short in the final but will be determined to bounce back stronger next season.
